Privacy policy

Day 31 is a deal management tool for content creators. Creators upload contracts and briefs; Day 31 turns them into tracked deals, quotes, and invoices. This policy describes what information Day 31 collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the choices available to you.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile image from your Google account. We do not receive or store your Google password.

Profile information. Information you add to your profile, such as display name, handle, social media handles, content niches, portfolio link, logo, business name, mailing address, phone number, and payment instructions. Most of this information exists to appear on the quote pages and invoices you create.

Documents. Contracts, briefs, and related files you upload, together with the information extracted from them (rates, deliverables, and terms).

Deal, quote, and invoice records. The deals you track, the quotes and invoices you create, and their statuses, amounts, and dates.

Blog newsletter. If you subscribe to the blog newsletter, we store the email address you submit, its subscription status, and which page you subscribed from.

Payment and subscription information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We store your subscription status and Stripe identifiers. We do not receive or store full card numbers. If you connect a Stripe account to receive invoice payments, we store connection identifiers, not your Stripe credentials. If you join a waitlist, we store the email address you submit.

Usage information. Information about how the product is used, such as pages viewed, features used, and upload funnel events, collected through PostHog, together with technical data such as browser type, device type, and approximate region derived from IP address. IP addresses are also processed to prevent abuse.

Visitors to public pages. When someone opens a public quote or invoice page, we record the open and show aggregate open counts and dates to the page's creator.

2. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

• provide the product: reading uploaded documents, building deals, generating quotes and invoices, and tracking their status;
• operate accounts and subscriptions;
• send transactional email, such as a copy of an invoice you choose to send by email;
• send the blog newsletter to people who subscribed to it;
• understand how the product is used and improve it;
• produce aggregated statistics about deal terms across many creators, such as typical payment windows. These statistics never identify you, your documents, or any single deal;
• maintain security, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use your information or documents for advertising. We do not send marketing email you did not ask for: the blog newsletter goes only to addresses that subscribed to it, every message includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.

3. Documents you upload

Uploaded documents are business records and are handled accordingly:

• Documents are stored privately in the United States and encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is limited to your account or, before sign-up, to your anonymous session.
• To extract deal terms, documents are processed through OpenAI's API. Day 31 does not use your documents to train any system.
• Day 31 may compute aggregated statistics across many creators' deals, such as typical payment terms for a type of work. A statistic is only computed when it draws on enough separate deals and creators that no person, document, or single deal can be identified from it. Your documents themselves are never shared.
• Extraction results pass through our background job infrastructure during processing.
• Documents uploaded without an account are deleted automatically after 7 days unless you create an account and claim them. Invoices created without an account are deleted on the same schedule.
• Deleting your account deletes your documents.

4. Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in and, if you use the product before creating an account, an anonymous identifier cookie that lets us attach your uploads and invoices to your account if you later sign up. Our analytics provider sets cookies or similar identifiers to measure product usage. We do not use advertising cookies.

5. How we share information

We share information only with the service providers that operate parts of Day 31, each limited to what its role requires:

• Google (sign-in, transactional email delivery, and cloud hosting on Google Cloud)
• Amazon Web Services (document and file storage)
• Neon (database hosting)
• OpenAI (automated document analysis, described in section 3)
• Inngest (background job processing)
• Stripe (billing and invoice payments)
• Upstash (rate limiting; processes IP addresses and anonymous identifiers)
• PostHog (product analytics)

We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect the rights, property, or safety of Day 31 or its users, or in connection with a business transfer, in which case this policy continues to apply to the transferred data.

6. Public pages

Quote pages and invoice pages you create are accessible to anyone who has the link. They display the information you chose to include on them: your profile details and the contents of the quote or invoice. Treat these links as public documents and share them deliberately.

7. Data retention and deletion

• Anonymous uploads and anonymous invoices: deleted automatically after 7 days.
• Newsletter email addresses: kept while subscribed; after you unsubscribe, the address is kept only to record that choice.
• Account data and documents: retained while your account is active.
• Account deletion: deletes your profile, deals, documents, quotes, and invoices from our systems. Records we are legally required to keep, such as billing records, are retained as required. Residual copies in backups are removed on a rolling basis within 7 days.

8. Security

Information is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to data is scoped to the owning account, and our infrastructure providers maintain industry-standard security certifications. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; if a breach affects your information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

9. Your rights and choices

You may access, correct, or delete your information at any time by emailing hello@day31.co. Depending on where you live, you may have additional legal rights.

California residents. You have the right to know the personal information we collect, use, and disclose; to request deletion; to request correction; and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise these rights, email hello@day31.co; we will verify requests using your account email address.

Users outside the United States. Day 31 is operated from the United States and information is processed on servers in the United States. By using the service, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. If the law of your region (such as the GDPR in the European Economic Area or the UK GDPR) grants you rights to access, correct, delete, port, restrict, or object to the processing of your data, or to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority, email us and we will honor applicable requests. Where the GDPR applies, we process personal information to perform our contract with you, to pursue our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, to comply with legal obligations, and, where applicable, with your consent.

10. Children

Day 31 is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or an in-product notice before they take effect and update the effective date above. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
